Southwest Iowa | I just read your question about your 1200 planter and having a section that wasn't planting as much seed as you wanted. I had a couple other suggestions that you might be able to look into and see if it helps.
The first is pretty simple, so it probably isn't your problem. But check and make sure that the carrier tires on the planter with the speed sensors on them have the correct inflation. I'm not sure what size planter you have, but I know on our 16-30", the recommended inflation for those tires is 36 psi.
The other thing I thought of was in the calibration of the planter as far as distance traveled. This is the part where you put a flag in the ground at point A, mark off 300 feet and put flag B in the ground. Then go to the calibration section on your monitor and drive the 300 feet and input the correct numbers your monitor comes up with. The book says this should be done anytime you change planting conditions, (no-till soybean stubble, disc'd ground, etc..), get new tires on the tractor, etc.. The book also says this should be done at the beginning of every season.
Hope some of these suggestions helps. Good luck in getting the problem solved and have a safe planting season.
