It really depends on what you want to end up with. Cheapest, easiest and most correct thing would be to just get your tired 350 rebuilt and put it back in. Really feels like the best answer for right now based on the timeline and plans you laid out for it.

If you're wanting to end up with something unique, big tires/lift and all that then I don't know how far your $15k budget will go by the time you buy an engine, figure out the trans/T-case that will stand up to it and the harness kit/controls to make it all work and have a working dash plus tires.

I don't really think a K5 is the right place for a big HP one-off motor, just a squirrely kind of platform for that build in my opinion but we all like different things!
