Don't see why they shouldn't work close to as good as a combined unit but have never used one. Now if its rated for 3,000psi and you run it at 4,000psi you are going to risk breaking the coil, the output psi will not go down but the heater coil may not take it. You could turn down the relief valve on your pressure washer to be safe if its possible to do so, not sure it is would depend on the washer.
