Small block would be easier and cheaper than a LS. Everyone says junkyards full of LS's but by the time you buy specific oil pan, engine mounts, headers,and accessory drive to fit the truck it can get expensive in a hurry.. Look at Blueprint 383 stroker would be a upgrade power wise ,or for lower cost plain old GM 350 from summit racing.
